HPLC - High Performance Liquid Chromatography

HPLC is useful for:

  • Identity confirmation of single organic components within complex mixtures
  • Content/potency determinations for individual components of raw materials or products
  • Analysis of samples from product performance tests

HPLC is a method of choice for identity confirmation and content/potency determinations of active components within complex raw materials, complex products and botanical extracts.

HPLC methods are the most complex relative to the techniques listed. Therefore, if a suitable HPLC method is not readily available for the testing desired, other techniques may be more cost-efficient.

ASI uses many established HPLC methods for content/potency determinations of components in nutraceutical products. These methods have been used routinely over time, often for various types of products. However, these established methods may not be able to separate out all the components of a new product. In such a case, un-separated components may interfere with the measurement of the component of interest, making the established method unsuitable for that product. It is often possible to modify an established HPLC method for the analysis of a new product, and ASI is able to provide the necessary method development services.
